1080p — Full HD or FHD — is 1920×1080 pixels, and nearly two decades after Blu-ray introduced it, it remains the true universal standard of movie watching. Why 1080p refuses to die

• Diminishing returns: on screens under ~50 inches at couch distance, most viewers can't reliably tell 1080p from 4K in blind tests.
• Source honesty: plenty of "4K" content is upscaled from 2K masters anyway; a well-encoded Full HD picture from a good master is better than a badly compressed UHD one.

Bitrate beats resolution: Blu-ray 1080p (~25–35 Mbps) comfortably outclasses any streaming tier. On streams, pick the highest quality setting your connection sustains, and prefer services that offer proper Full HD rather than 720p disguised as "HD".
