720p — 1280×720 piksler — er der «HD» begynte, og det forblir internettets mest praktiske kvalitetsnivå. En godt kodet 720p-film veier en brøkdel av 1080p- eller 4K-versjonene, strømmer sømløst på bare 2–4 Mbit/s og ser bemerkelsesverdig bra ut på mobil- og nettbrettskjermer.
Når 720p er det smarte valget
- Små skjermer: på en mobil på armlengdes avstand kan de fleste ikke skille 720p fra 1080p.
- Trege eller begrensede linjer: 720p er forskjellen mellom sømløs avspilling og evig bufring — og snillest mot datakvoten.
- Lagring: minste filstørrelse per film betyr flere filmer per gigabyte.
